Express Entry Canada Immigration opportunity for young graduates

Express Entry Canada was created by the Federal Government to attract highly skilled candidates to live and contribute to the development of Canada.

But what exactly is the Express Entry program, and how does it fit into the Canadian immigration system? Let’s find out more with Le Immigration Group!

What is Canada’s Express Entry?

/1

Canada’s Express Entry was introduced by the Federal Government in January 2015. It’s not just an immigration program but an immigration scoring system used to manage applications for Canadian Permanent Residence.

Express Entry’s scoring system is transparent and rigorous, with clear criteria. Therefore, the opportunity to immigrate to Canada under Express Entry is open to everyone who meets the program’s requirements.

/2

Potential candidates who meet the basic requirements for skills, experience, qualifications, and language ability in one of the three programs listed below will be admitted to the Express Entry pool and ranked based on a point system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

On average, every two weeks, the Federal Government opens a selection process and sends Invitations to Apply (ITA) to the highest-scoring candidates, allowing them to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.

CRS:
Comprehensive Ranking System

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores and ranks candidates in Canada’s Express Entry system to select the most qualified for economic immigration programs

The CRS evaluates profiles based on skills, work experience, language ability, and education, with a maximum score of 1,200 points across four groups:

maximum 460-500 points
see the criteria table

Group A: Human Factors

Age

Highest points (up to 110 single, 100 with spouse) are for ages 20–29.

Education
Max 150 points for academic levels starting from high school.

Language Ability
First language: up to 136 (single) or 128 (with spouse). Second language: up to 24 (single) or 22 (with spouse).

Work Experience
Up to 80 points for five years of experience.

maximum of 40 points

Group B: Spouse or Partner Factors

Spouse/partner’s education, language skills, and Canadian work experience can add up to 40 points.

Work Experience in Canada

Note: Group A + Group B = Up to 500 points (with/without a spouse or partner)

maximum of 100 points
see the criteria table

Group C: Skill Transferability

The skill transferability factor applies to candidates who have excelled in the Human Factors category (in at least two areas). Bonus points can be awarded — up to 50 points for two skills, and a maximum of 100 points for five skills.

Note :
• This only applies to applicants, not including spouses or partners.

see the criteria table

Group D: Other Factors

This group includes several factors that significantly impact the overall CRS score.

One notable example is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Each province has programs linked to the Express Entry (EE-PNP) system, targeting candidates with the skills, qualifications, and work experience that meet the province's needs. These programs aim to attract individuals who can contribute to the province's economic development.

If a candidate receives a provincial nomination, they are awarded 600 additional points on the CRS scale, virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply in the next round of federal selection.

Note :
• Note : Group A + Group B + Group C + Group D = Maximum of 1200 points
• Group A + Group B + Group C = Max 600 points

How to register for Canada Express Entry

Step 1: Determine Your Eligibility

There are two ways to check if you’re eligible:
• Use the tool at the link
• Review the criteria at the link

Step 2: Prepare Documents When Eligible

Candidates will need to complete a Canada Express Entry profile online at the link. This profile will require information regarding skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other relevant details for evaluation by the authorities.

Step 3: Submit Online Application

Candidates must submit their application and necessary documents to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The Canada Express Entry profile allows IRCC to evaluate each candidate. Those who meet the requirements will be placed in the Pool of Candidates.

Step 4: Receive an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence

IRCC will send an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the highest-scoring candidates in the pool. Applicants then have 60 days from the date of the ITA to submit their application for Permanent Residence. Applications will be processed within 6 months or less.
